Taking an Assessment Questions

How do I begin an assessment?

  • Option 1: After you complete the registration process, log in to your Okta account and click the Junction tile. You will see the assessment(s) assigned to you.
  • Option 2: If we invited you to take an assessment via an invitation email, you will have received an email from admin.mettl@mercer.com; click the link in this email. If you do not see the email, please check your spam and junk folders.

For more information on taking an assessment, please read this guide.

I failed the assessment. Can I take the assessment again?

No, you cannot retake assessments because you failed. We are unable to offer retakes due to the sizes and nature of our projects. Thank you for understanding. Please feel free to look through our careers page and apply for other opportunities.

Where and when can I see my assessment results?

Depending on the type of assessment and how you were registered, your results will either:

  • Populate beside the assessment link in Junction. It may take up to 30 minutes before your results appear.
  • Be shared directly with you by a team member.

Please note, if a test requires a human to review and score, it may take up to a week to receive your results.

Assessment System Requirements

What is the minimum upload bandwidth required to take an assessment online?

  • For non-proctored test and AI proctored test - 512 kbps.
  • For Media questions or Stored video or Authorization – 1 MBPS

You can test your upload bandwidth here.

Which browser should I use to take the assessment?

The latest three versions of these browsers will work:

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Why am I having a difficult time starting the assessment even though I’m using a supported browser?

You may have an issue starting an assessment due to the pop-up blocker setting of your browser. Here is what you can do to fix this:

  • Use the “allow once/always” pop-ups function from your browser settings to allow the assessment window to open.
  • Optionally, you may disable the pop-up blocker for the duration of the assessment. You can learn how to do this on the various browsers at these links:

Note: You’ll probably need to restart your browser after performing the steps outlined above.

Where can I find more information on System Requirements?

You can find more information on the Mettl-specific system requirements by browsing the Mettl support page.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

I am unable to start the assessment and see the message “Email ID not authorized.”

This message is displayed if the email address you entered is not associated with the assessment by Welocalize. Often, the email address contains an error. Please try manually entering the email address where the invitation email was sent and ensure no additional characters or spaces are present.

What should I do if the link I received to take an assessment does not work?

Please open a ticket with us and include the position for which you are being assessed. We will review your ticket and get back to you as soon as possible.

I am unable to start the assessment and see the message “This test has been deactivated.”

This message is displayed when the time window for participation in the assessment has lapsed. We suggest you connect directly with your recruiter.

The assessment window froze while I was taking the assessment and submitted itself.

This likely happened because you violated one of the rules shared with you before taking the assessment (e.g., leaving the assessment window, allowing pop-ups). This results in an automatic assessment submission. If you believe this was an error, please submit a ticket and include the position for which you are being assessed.

I need to leave the assessment to deal with a personal matter. Can I pause my assessment?

No, you cannot pause an assessment and continue later. The assessment needs to be completed in one sitting. Please ensure you will not be interrupted during the assessment before you begin.

I am reconnected to the internet after a brief disconnection. Why is the resume button not working?

After you experience an internet disconnection, it usually takes 7-8 minutes for the resume button to be enabled.

I experienced a power outage or connection issue during the assessment. Can I retake it?

You can resume an assessment after experiencing a brief connection issue. Please do not leave the assessment window. If you are unable to resume the assessment, please submit a ticket and include the position for which you are being assessed.

I am stuck on the “Test Page is Loading” screen.

You might be experiencing this issue because of a variety of reasons. Please consider the following:

  • Check that you are connected to the internet.
  • Restart your computer and try again.
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies and try again.
  • Switch to a different browser (e.g., Firefox to Chrome).
  • Make sure you do not have any content blockers or firewalls installed.

How do I prevent an assessment invitation email from going to my spam/junk folder?

You'll need to safelist this email address: admin.mettl@mercer.com. You can find steps to do this here; you'll want to find your specific email provider and then safelist this email address.

It’s been more than 30 minutes, but my results are not reflected in Junction.

Please try refreshing the page or clear your browser cache. If the issue continues, wait a few hours before checking again.

Is it necessary to pass all the assessments to move forward in the process?

Yes, passing ALL the assessments is mandatory.

I have completed the test retake but haven’t received the results yet.

It usually takes 24-48 hours to update your results by official email (you will not see these in Junction).

I have failed the language assessment. Can I apply again?

The Search Quality Rater and Ads Quality Rater positions are part of the same project. If you do not pass the language assessment, you are not eligible to apply again (for either role). These opportunities will be available to you again after 12 months.
