Get Familiarized With NLG Processes
Workflows
Workflows in Plunet vary depending on the project type, process steps required, and CAT tool used (e.g. SDL Studio, memoQ, Across, etc.). The jobs in blue are the ones assigned to localization suppliers; the rest are jobs managed and handled by NLG internal resources or DTP suppliers. You can check all Plunet job definitions here.
Example of a Common NLG Workflow:
PRV-xxx – TED-xxx – ΑQA-xxx – QAR-xxx – CLR-xxx – INC-xxx – DTP-xxx – PF-xxx – SC-xxx – DSC-xxx - DEL-xxx
CVs and IDs | Provision of IDs Before Delivery
Tracking the IDs of all linguists that work on any given project is mandatory. This is implemented by recording the TRA ID (linguist who did the translation) and/or the EDT ID (linguist who did editing) for the TED or TRA/EDT jobs respectively. The IDs that correspond to the anonymous CVs are assigned as follows: language code for the target language and the initials (of linguist), e.g. enUS_JS (for John Smith). The IDs for each task should be provided to NLG upon the acceptance of the assignment by the supplier so that NLG can approve the CVs prior to the launch of the project. In case other CVs than ones already approved need to be used in a task then the supplier must notify the NLG project manager and provide the respective CVs and IDs.
Translator Profiles | Account specific
Translator Profiles | Further to the CVs, for specific clients, you may be asked to complete an additional document that describes the special minimum qualifications needed for a given account.
Deliverables | Version Control (TRA and EDT files)
For version control reasons, suppliers are always asked to deliver the translated files and edited files. The edited files are considered for NLG the final files. The translation files are stored in our system for reference purposes.
Grids | Standard NLG & Client-specific grids
NLG applies a standard CAT grid for most clients except for cases where clients designate their own.
